Panel 1 (Outdoors, midday)
The van is approaching a 1950’s style gas station, at a crossroads. The sign showing what company the station belongs to just says “Gas”, and there’s two old fashioned pumps out front. The building is more like a house than a modern gas station building.
Phoebe: Is this place open?
Diana: I think so. Yeah, there’s an Open sign on the door.
Panel 2 (Outdoors, midday)
Van has pulled up in front of the station. View of the pumps shows there’s no way to pay at the pumps. Signboard says stuff like beer, food, cold drinks, etc.
Diana: That’s strange. No sign showing how much they’re charging.
Phoebe: I’m thirsty. I’ll go in, get some drinks and munchies, and pay for the gas. Twenty bucks ought to get us to Slow River.
Panel 3 (Outdoors, midday)
Diana is pumping the gas, and Phoebe’s about to enter the store.
Diana: I want a Dr. Pepper. And some beer for later.
Phoebe: Diana….
Diana: Geez, just kidding.
Phoebe: I’ll see what they’ve got.
