I think David did a really good job with Phoebe’s body language in panel 1. And there’s gonna be a realy love/hate relationship going between Phydeux and Phoebe for a long time.

Phydeux is the most complex character so far. He involves four separate applications of color. First, he has a white fill to his whole body. Then I use the GIMP “Big Galaxy” brush using the paintbrush tool to cover him with black speckles. Then I go around the edges of the figure and the major interior contours with the airbrush tool and a brush called “Sparks” to get the gold sparkley effect. THEN I select just the eyes and mouth and go over them with the sparks thing on the airbrush again to make them even brighter.

Except in panel 2 where, for some reason, I used the regular brush for that, which is why Phydeux’ eye looks different. And I just now noticed that. Damn.
